Description

These crispy Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks are the ultimate homemade snack — golden on the outside, perfectly gooey inside, and packed with flavor. 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut in half

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten (add 1 tsp milk if desired)

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp salt

Olive oil or nonstick cooking spray

Optional: marinara sauce, ranch, or garlic butter for dipping


Instructions

  • Prep your coating station: Set up three shallow bowls — one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.

  • Dust and dip: Roll each cheese stick in flour to coat, then dip into egg, then into breadcrumbs.

  • Double coat: For extra crunch, dip each stick again in egg and breadcrumbs.

  • Freeze: Arrange coated sticks on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 1 hour (up to overnight).

  • Preheat air fryer: Set to 390°F (200°C) and lightly spray basket with oil.

  • Air fry: Place sticks in a single layer, spray tops with oil, and cook 6–8 minutes, until golden and crisp.

 

  • Cool & serve: Let rest for 1–2 minutes, then serve warm with dipping sauce.

Notes

Make-ahead tip: Freeze uncooked mozzarella sticks for up to 2 months. Cook straight from frozen — no thawing required.

Crispier coating: Toast breadcrumbs in a dry skillet for a few minutes before coating for deeper color and crunch.

Flavor boost: Mix Parmesan cheese into your breadcrumbs for extra richness.
