Description
Flaky, buttery, and irresistibly crisp — these Rosemary Parmesan Cheese Straws make the perfect snack or appetizer for any occasion. Made with puff pastry, fresh herbs, and real Parmesan, they’re an effortless crowd-pleaser that looks elegant but comes together in minutes.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry (about 10 x 10 inches), thawed but still cold
1 large egg, lightly beaten (for egg wash)
½ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing after baking)
Pinch of salt and black pepper
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the pastry: Unfold the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
Add flavor: Brush the pastry with beaten egg, then sprinkle evenly with Parmesan, rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Press gently so the toppings stick.
Cut & twist: Slice into ½-inch strips and twist each one several times. Arrange on the baking sheet, spacing apart.
Bake: Bake for 12–15 minutes or until puffed, golden, and crisp.
Finish & serve: Cool slightly on a wire rack, then brush with melted butter if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
To make ahead: Shape the straws and refrigerate up to 24 hours or freeze unbaked for later use.
For extra crunch: Add an extra sprinkle of cheese right before baking.
To re-crisp leftovers: Warm in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 3–5 minutes.
